Purpose:
I chose to create a company that would allow me to use my passion, which is teaching, along with what is most important in my heart, which are children. Thus, the company, A Teacher’s Heart, was born. I believe that all children can learn and be successful if they enjoy their learning and are involved hands-on in the process. A mother of a three-year old myself, I know the importance of creative, meaningful experiences as a way of enriching knowledge. In searching my community for opportunities for my daughter, I found that there were not many things available for her age group. This is why I chose to design a program of creative camps for preschool children. My camps are currently being offered at City of Sugar Hill Community Center and I'm excited to announce some new neighborhood locations for Summer 2011 (stay tuned for updates)!
My inspiration
In working with children, I also found the desire to reach out to parents. My greatest success in teaching is helping children discover a love of reading. Throughout my years as an elementary teacher, I met so many frustrated parents who could not get their child interested in reading. This is why I created a series of workshops for parents, How to Help Your Child Succeed in Reading.
